Hourly to Salary Calculator
Convert an hourly rate into annual, monthly, biweekly, and weekly pay.
Ready to calculate
Enter hourly rate, hours per week, and weeks per year to see annual salary.
Use this hourly to salary calculator to convert an hourly wage into annual salary and pay-period equivalents. Enter the hourly rate, expected paid hours per week, and paid weeks per year. The calculator returns annual salary, monthly pay, biweekly pay, weekly pay, daily pay, and annual paid hours. It is built for quick job-offer comparisons, payroll planning, labor budgeting, and employee compensation conversations.
Hourly workers and employers often talk in different units. An employee may know the job pays $25 per hour, while a manager needs the annual labor budget. A candidate may receive an hourly offer and want to compare it with a salaried role. This calculator gives both sides the same gross-pay view. If you need the opposite conversion, use the salary to hourly calculator. If actual weekly hours vary, pair this with the time card calculator.
How to Use the Hourly to Salary Calculator
- Enter hourly rate - use base pay per hour before taxes, overtime, tips, commissions, or deductions.
- Enter hours per week - use the regular paid schedule, such as 40 for a full-time employee.
- Enter weeks per year - use 52 for year-round paid work or fewer weeks for seasonal work.
- Review annual salary - the main result shows hourly rate multiplied by annual paid hours.
- Use pay-period amounts - monthly, biweekly, weekly, and daily values help compare paycheck timing.
The result updates as you type. For a clean comparison between two jobs, use the same hours and weeks unless the schedules are actually different.
Hourly to Salary Formula
The hourly to salary formula is:
Annual hours = Hours per week x Weeks per year
Annual salary = Hourly rate x Annual hours
For a standard full-time schedule:
Annual hours = 40 x 52 = 2,080
Annual salary = $31.25 x 2,080 = $65,000
Pay-period estimates are calculated from gross annual pay:
Monthly pay = Annual salary / 12
Biweekly pay = Annual salary / 26
Weekly pay = Annual salary / Weeks per year
These results are before taxes and deductions. Actual take-home pay depends on withholding, benefits, retirement contributions, unpaid time, bonuses, reimbursements, and local payroll rules.
Common Hourly to Salary Examples
| Hourly Rate | Hours / Week | Weeks / Year | Annual Salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| $20.00 | 40 | 52 | $41,600 |
| $25.00 | 40 | 52 | $52,000 |
| $30.00 | 40 | 52 | $62,400 |
| $35.00 | 40 | 52 | $72,800 |
| $40.00 | 40 | 52 | $83,200 |
The same hourly rate can create a very different annual salary when hours or weeks change. A $30 rate at 30 hours per week and 48 paid weeks equals $43,200, not $62,400. This matters for part-time roles, seasonal employees, contractors, and school-year schedules.
What About Overtime?
This calculator treats every entered hour as regular base pay. It does not add time-and-a-half, double time, shift differentials, or holiday premiums. If overtime is common, calculate the base annual pay here, then use the overtime calculator for expected extra hours.
For example, $24 per hour at 40 hours per week equals $49,920 per year. If the employee works five overtime hours most weeks at 1.5x, those overtime hours add a separate premium. The final annual earnings may be meaningfully higher than the base salary equivalent shown here.
Employer Use Cases
Small businesses can use hourly to salary conversion to build pay bands, compare roles, and estimate annual labor cost. If a shop adds a full-time employee at $22 per hour, the base annual wage is $45,760 before payroll taxes, benefits, workersโ compensation, and overhead. That number is easier to compare with a salary budget than the hourly rate alone.
The calculator is also useful when discussing raises. A $2 hourly raise at 40 hours per week and 52 weeks per year adds $4,160 in gross annual pay. When the pay raise tool is available, it can sit next to this calculator as part of the same staff pay workflow.
Employee Use Cases
Employees can use the calculator to compare hourly and salaried offers, plan monthly budgets, or understand what a raise means over a year. It is especially useful when a role changes from hourly to salary or from salary to hourly. The math makes the tradeoff easier to see, but it does not replace questions about overtime eligibility, schedule expectations, benefits, PTO, commute, and career growth.
Worked Example
A service coordinator is offered $28.50 per hour for 38 hours per week across 52 paid weeks.
- Annual hours = 38 x 52 = 1,976
- Annual salary = $28.50 x 1,976 = $56,316.00
- Monthly gross pay = $56,316 / 12 = $4,693.00
- Biweekly gross pay = $56,316 / 26 = $2,166.00
- Weekly gross pay = $56,316 / 52 = $1,083.00
If the employee later moves to 40 hours per week at the same hourly rate, annual salary rises to $59,280. A small weekly-hours change can matter more than it looks when multiplied across the full year.
